1) Afghan Kitchen, Islington
Although it took three trains and two transfers on the underground to get to this hole-in-the-wall near the Angel tube station, the experience was well worth the wait. I feasted on baked pumpkin in a spicy yogurt sauce and Afghani pickles. Although the atmosphere left something to be desired, the food was both a cultural experience and a delight to my newly daring palate.
2) Wafflemeister, South Kensington
Wafflemeister, just a stone's throw away from BU facilities, is certainly a crowd pleaser. They offer the kind of freshly made, hot off of the iron, you can smell 'em from halfway down the street waffles that evoke a craving in just about everyone, sweet tooth or not. To make things worse (for your waistline and your pocket) are the elaborate toppings: milk, dark, and white chocolate, strawberries, whipped, cream, and several flavors of ice cream. If the store had a tagline, it would be "pick your poision".
3) Snog, South Kensington
A Coldstone style frozen yogurt shop with a twist: healthy toppings (and correspondingly high prices)! The yogurt is delicious, and the (surprisingly not terrifying) calorie counts are posted. Count me in!
Although I've already developed a list of personal favorites, I really hope to explore more of the ethnic food scene in London before I leave. My first experience with Afghani food was successful, so on to Moroccan, Lebanese, and Portugese!
I am curious as to how you picked out the Afghani restaurant. Don't think you will be taking Dad to that one!
