After aimlessly walking around for a few days, I'm starting to get a feel for Kensington. I've also started to get a feel for some other things.
1) There must be a lot of stupid tourists wandering around, because white raised writing (either "look right -->" or "look left <--") accents each curb. I shouldn't complain, because I've had a few nasty almost-run-ins with cars. However, each time I see these friendly little reminders that in this country, cars drive on the LEFT side of the road, I think about how stupid British people must find tourists.
2) Brace yourselves. Apparently, in Europe, it is socially acceptable for straight males to wear skinny jeans. WHO KNEW. This phenomenon has given way to several confusing encounters.
3) Hyde Park is a beautiful venue for running. Yesterday, given the slight chill and overcast skies, few people could be found on the grounds. Today, however, the blue skies and balmy temperature seemed to attract half of the families, runners, and dog enthusiasts in London.
That's all for now. There's a creperie by my dorm that I might go explore now...
Haha...those same signs mark the curbs in Dublin and I also had a few close calls. By December it will seem like second nature :)
ReplyDeleteThe skinny jean thing is new since we were there although we have seen pics of Bob's nephew from Cambridge dressed in questionable attire on face book so your observation makes me feel better.
I'm glad to hear that you are settling in. xoxoxo Nini
